Wire rod

Wire rod is a steel product obtained through a hot rolling process, by means of a mill specially designed for this purpose.

Celsa manufactures a wide variety of wire rod grades in a range of diameters from 5.5 mm the thinnest to 52 mm the thickest, in the case of Celsa Atlantic, the diameters range from 5.5 to 14 mm.

Product range

Within the different wire rod qualities, Celsa Atlantic manufactures a range of low carbon wire rods, divided into:

    • Soft wire rod for wire drawing
    • Wire rod for wire mesh

Product applications

The wire rod is used as raw material by calibrators, meshing machines and wire drawing machines, which provide the appropriate mechanical and surface characteristics for each need.

Both wire rods made of mild steels and wire rods made of mesh steels are one of the most versatile products, whose applications can be very numerous, such as:

  1. Thin, annealed, gray and galvanized wires for agricultural and commercial uses
  2. Bright wires for plating by chrome plating, nickel plating, electrolytic zinc plating, painting, etc.
  3. Industrial and stationery staples
  4. Standard nails, special nails and self-nailing nails
  5. Barbed wire, wire mesh, fencing, etc.
  6. Chains
  7. Wire and electrowelded mesh for concrete, etc.
  8. Reels, displays, shelves
  9. Threaded rods, mini-plates
  10. It is important to emphasize that this is a product with high drawability, which can be used with both mechanical and chemical pickling.

Electrowelded mesh

Corrugated steel electrowelded mesh for concrete reinforcement, manufactured by Aceros para la Construcción, is made of hot-rolled, weldable and highly ductile steel, providing it with optimum ductility conditions to perform structural reinforcement functions.
